High School offers
Secondary school places are offered on 1 March 2021 (offer day). If you applied through the online application portal, you will receive an email you with your child’s offer during the working day. If you applied in any other way, you will receive an offer letter to your registered home address (a few days after offer day). You need to accept your offer with the school directly. You must accept the offer by the deadline given in the offer email or letter. Otherwise, it may be withdrawn and the place given to someone else.
If you are not happy with the school that has been offered you can ask to be added to the waiting list for any Leeds school (including schools you haven’t previously asked for) and can appeal against the refusal of a place at a preferenced school. Application forms for any child who has not submitted an application for Year 7, waiting list forms and appeal forms are available at www.leeds.gov.uk/offerday. You have until 15 March 2021 to submit waiting list requests and 29 March to submit appeal requests.
If you are unhappy with the school that has been offered and are considering refusing your offer, we recommend that:
- you contact the allocated school before turning down the offer
- you are aware that if you turn down a place, it will be allocated to another child and it cannot be guaranteed a place will become available at a closer school to home – they could be left without a Year 7 place.
- you understand accepting an offer doesn’t impact the chances of being offered a place from the waiting list or increase the chances of success at an appeal hearing
- any family who refuses an offer must contact the offered school directly and will be asked to confirm where they will be educating their child in September
You can contact the Admissions Team on 0113 222 4414 if you need more information.
If you need any support, please phone school to arrange an appointment.
