Message for parents/carers of children in 5b
I am writing to advise you that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19.
Since 19th July, schools are no longer responsible for identifying close contacts of persons who test positive for COVID-19. Instead, close contacts will be notified by NHS Test and Trace and given advice and instructions about isolating and / or taking a PCR test.
As schools often become aware of cases sooner than NHS Test and Trace, we are writing to inform you that there has been a child in Class 5b class who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Close contacts will be informed by NHS Test and Trace, but in the meantime, please be alert to the signs and symptoms of COVID-19 infection:
- A high temperature
- A new continuous cough
- A loss of change to your sense of taste or smell
If your child develops one of these symptoms, please keep them at home and book a PCR test (online at: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by phoning 119 between 7am and 11pm) and stay at home until you receive a result.
The safety and welfare of all our staff and children remains our top priority. We continue to undertake thorough cleaning of the whole school and a deep clean will be carried out in the appropriate areas of school following this positive case.
If you would like to speak to someone, or have any further questions, please contact the school office on: 0113 2717257
Please see the NHS.UK website for more information on testing: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-for-coronavirus/ask-for-a-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/.
If you are concerned about you / your child’s health, please refer to the NHS 111 website or telephone NHS 111 or your GP.
