Sports & PE
At Hunslet Moor Primary School the core purpose of our school is to ensure that every child learns, achieves and enjoys in all areas of the curriculum.
We believe that physical education, sport and an awareness of a healthy lifestyle contribute to the long term holistic development of children. We strive for every child to achieve their physical potential and to develop skills such as teamwork, fair play and respect for themselves and others. We hope for every child to:
- Be physically literate.
- Develop physically, emotionally and socially.
- Have a lifelong participation in physical activity.

In April 2013, the Government announced new funding of £150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the provision of Physical Education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport and has been directly allocated to primary school Head teachers.
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have the freedom to choose how they do this.
We have drawn up plans to enhance our sports provision using the funding from the government. Please click on the link below to see how we used this funding in 2021-22 to impact positively on our provision at Hunslet Moor Primary:
We have evaluated how the funding from the government has impacted our school positively in the year 2020-21. We have also reported our swimming data for 2020-21 on this document. Please click on the link below to see this impact statement:
