Re: Transition information update for Cockburn School

Parent/Carer,

Re: Transition information update for Cockburn School

Following the announcement by the UK government that COVID restrictions will remain in place until 19th July 2021, High Schools have had to amend their plans for transition activities. Cockburn School has been in contact and shared their updated transition plans. The transition session for pupils from Hunslet Moor Primary who are due to go to Cockburn School in September will now take place on Friday 2nd July 12.30pm – 2pm.

Students will attend Cockburn School for a short visit which will include a tour of the school, an assembly with key staff and some team building transition activities. Please be aware that these visits will be conducted with strictly limited numbers of students and social distancing and school bubbles will be maintained at all times.

Unfortunately, we are unable to support with taking the children to Cockburn for this session therefore are asking parents to take your child directly there. Cockburn School have asked if you can arrive ten minutes prior to the start time of your session to the main school reception (Friday 2nd July at 12.20pm).  Your child will be met at reception and returned to you at the end of their session. Please note that due to COVID restrictions you will not be allowed to stay on the school site while you wait.

To support with the above timings, you may drop off your child as usual at school on the Friday morning and collect them at an earlier time of 11.30am. The children do not need to return to school after their visit. If your child qualifies for free school meals and you would like a packed lunch provided for the day, please contact the school office.

If you have any questions, please phone the school office on 0113 2717257.

Yours sincerely,

Miss Wicks

Assistant Headteacher and Year 6 Leader
